A series of 10 alcohol ink artworks painted on synthetic paper. I decided to work on this series during an extremely busy time – I was planning the move of my family from Melbourne to New Zealand. It had been a different year for us with everything that happened due to COVID which saw my 2 year old son & myself confined to our home with almost zero face to face social interaction. During this time, I saw creating this series as an opportunity to learn as well as to address some personal challenges I had as an artist.
Balance: Everything in life has good and bad. Light and dark. Sun & Storm. Whilst they are opposite in term, they go hand in hand in existence. Finding the balance in between both is like a mountain ( sierra ) weathering everything that comes to pass with grace & strength.
Acceptance : This series marked a turning point in my life to embrace and accept myself as an artist and truly pursue this path with intent and not just something I do on the side
Process: I decided to paint this series live on Instagram as a way of creating openness about my processes as well as conquer the fear of imperfection. Painting live creates a certain level of pressure and I wanted to feel the freedom of painting without any inhibition or fear.
