In my happy place doing happy things.⁣ Grateful to be able to do this every day.⁣ ⁣ Being an artist was never a dream, I didn't grow up doing artsy things, the first art teacher I ever had blew my self confidence apart when it comes to art (I was 7 yo) and I majored in a technical field for my career.⁣ ⁣ Even now there are days I feel like an imposter, I'm somewhere I don't belong because I'm not naturally talented in / have formally studied art.⁣ ⁣ But I've always had a drive to create. To make things with my hands, to bring a vision in my head to life. Recently I was told that my work is pretty....diverse, which actually was a compliment. There seems to be a subtle expectation that artists should discover their own style, box in with select mediums and keep to it, to give a clearer idea of our work to our audience, to have that seamless Insta feed that looks well put together ( which is probably a great business strategy). This also results in mastery, being really good at one/select few things.⁣ ⁣ While I don't disagree completely with this approach, there are those of us who create, relish that moment of magic and then...move on. Or have the need to be more than just one thing. This results in a diverse portfolio of work but it also allows so much freedom for creative expression and being truly ourselves.⁣ ⁣ Right now I'm very much enjoying working on larger scales of work, using a few techniques that I've discovered through my years with ink.
